Thomas Jefferson’s travels in Piedmont were more than a cultural exploration; they were essential to his vision of reducing America’s dependence on England and France while fostering connections with Italy. At the heart of Jefferson’s Journey is Enrico de Alessandrini, a Virginia-born Italian-American and proud alumnus of Jefferson’s alma mater, William & Mary.
