Fermentation: Hand-harvested into small crates, the fruit undergoes cold maceration at 5°C for 24 to 48 hours to soften skins. After hand-selection, it’s gently whole-cluster pressed. Spontaneous fermentation then occurs in solar-powered, temperature-controlled settings, allowing a low-temperature, extended ferment in French Chassin oak. This process enhances the wine’s aromatics, fruit, and complexity.
Aging: Aged for at least nine months in a meticulous blend of new and neutral French Chassin barrels, developing elegant, seamlessly integrated oak nuances. The Timorasso grape’s delicate complexity is carefully preserved through a combination of micro-oxygenation and sur lie aging. Bottled on July 30, 2024.
Aromas: Layered bouquet of delicate jasmine and vibrant citrus blossoms interwoven with a refreshing ethereal mint inflection. The mineral-driven signature of Monleale’s terroir is omnipresent.
Flavors: Vibrant notes of fresh white peach and zesty lemon elegantly woven with subtle hints of hazelnut and sweet spices. As the wine matures, it will gracefully develop deeper layers of honey and caramel, while retaining distinctive mineral notes.
Vintage Notes: The 2023 vintage had excellent diurnal temperature shifts ensuring perfect phenolic maturity with vibrant acidity. Heavy rains in late August brought balance to the naturally high acidity of the wine. Harvested September 19.
